Art I | Ms. Sudkamp | 2018
below are the items I see everyday before and after my school day in my room.
Home About DONATE
1. this was my most helpful warmup because I had to try and get every detail at an angle I wasn’t used to
2. Composition- the way a drawing is made up
value- what contributes to the drawing and details
3. Pencils are good for if you make a mistake you can erase it, but pencils also can be hard to choose which type of pencil to shade and color correctly
charcoal is good for design but it’s not easy to make small details
pen is good for drawing but if you make a mistake you can’t erase it so you will have to start a new drawing or improvise around the mistake you made

painting
1. My painting is a lake in Michigan that we go to every summer where we can see our cousins
2. Painting the fades in colors was very hard for me
3. I think I did a good job on the trees and the docks
4. I painted the sky first, then over lapped it with the lake and finished with the final details of the docks and the trees

my mentor
Linocut prIntmaking project
1. It shows “line” with the design of the “s” in the Superman logo
2. If I were to do it again I would be more careful digging around the edges so it’s more clear what it is

Shane Hart is my mentor. He is very skilled at what he likes to do. I saw his digital drawings and I was blown away with the talent I saw. A really good benefit I see is that he can help me improve my digital art
Clay box
1.instead of painting the final piece, I glazed it to the color I liked then finished with firing it once it was glazed
2. I think I did a good job painting what I wanted to and what I didn’t want to
3. I would re glaze it and make the glaze look more even everywhere

1. First, I used pencil to sketch and shade the Deadpool face. For the second, I used pen to color in parts of the Deadpool face. Third, I used pencil to sketch the designs of the background, then watercolor to fill it in. Fourth, I put more designs with colored pencil on the background, and finally I cutout the Deadpool face and glued it on.
2. I had to journal my reaction to the latest movie I saw. At the time I got this assigned, the latest movie I had seen was avengers: infinity war. The movie left me surprised and shocked, so I thought that picture of Deadpool would look great.

Final project:
stop motion animation
when I started this I didn’t know what to do, so I started something and just kept putting different things in as I went along and I liked how it turned out (btw the beginning is supposed to be slow motion
FINAL EXAM
1. During art, we would critique other students art for every project we did. Every time, you had to make at least 8 critiques. When I would do my critiques, I would look at the detail and the design of the piece. From there, that would help me form a basis of which critiques I could make.
2. For this critique portion, I chose my self portrait. Overall once it was finished, I didn't like how it turned out, but it was my first ever digital art piece and I thought that this was good for a first. Another thing I like about this is that I can target the weak points i find while doing the critique, and find away to improve those to make my overall picture better. The only thing about the piece that I liked was the hair. Everything else I think I could've done better on. For example, I could've put more detail into the ears. I also think the shape of the eyes and the detail in them could have been greatly improved. The lines (like the mouth and nose) I feel that I really messed up on. They could have been a lot more smooth and more detailed.
3. I think my mixed media art came out the best. I had a lot of fun making it and I think it turned out well. My topic was my reaction to the last movie I saw. The last movie I had seen at that time had left me surprised so I began to brainstorm and thought that picture of shocked deadpool would be perfect, so I drew it using 2 different mediums, cut it out and put it on a watercolor design i made that contained 2 other mediums. My fifth medium was cutout.
4. I would not say copying is always plagiarism. Obviously, completely copying and pasting something and claiming it as your own is plagiarism, but if you paraphrase something, its copying but its changed to your words, so I would not consider it plagiarism.
5. In my opinion opinion, there were multiple points to this class. You cant identify one point when every project was different, but that is what made class great. One of the things I left class with is knowing more things about sketching and drawing, and have put the tips I have learned in this class to use outside of the classroom.
(sidenote): Ms. Sudkamp, thank you for this amazing semester of art. I had so much fun and learned so much stuff I would have never learned. Thank you
